Scholarship Information

  • Ohio Stream Preservation, Inc. (“OSP”) is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization whose mission is to provide effective methods for the long-term preservation of rivers, wetlands, and streams in the State of Ohio.

  • OSP is composed of a coalition of professionals experienced in the fields of ecology, landscape architecture, engineering, construction project management, and surveying. These disciplines enable OSP to encourage sensitive land use practices and development which will promote the quality and ecological health of Ohio's aquatic resources.

  • OSP assists property owners interested in sensitive land use practices and the preservation of rivers, wetlands, and streams and can acquire rights, easements, deed restrictions, and titles to aquatic resources.

  • OSP is pleased to announce its first annual scholarship in environmental studies. This scholarship has been created to aid at least one deserving student in his/her pursuit of a degree in environmental science, including engineering, hydrology, ecology, geology, biology or other fields related to environmental studies. OSP is currently seeking applications from high school seniors or college students who are passionate about their study of the environment. At least one $2,500.00 scholarship will be awarded to assist with tuition and will be awarded in June 2019. Applicants must not have received a previous scholarship from OSP and will give preference to a student who attends an Ohio high school or college. Applicants will be evaluated based on their educational and community service background and their potential to make a contribution to environmental studies or a related field. Interested students must submit a one-to-two-page letter describing their career goals, past volunteer work related to environmental studies, and significant achievements to date.

  • Applicants also must provide a minimum of one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, non-profit environmental organization, or community member. The scholarship winner(s) must agree to provide a written report by February 1 following the award of the scholarship, describing how they spent their scholarship money to advance their education. Additionally, OSP will invite all past and current scholarship winners to attend an OSP meeting to report on their accomplishments.

  • All application materials will be submitted electronically as detailed on the application form found on the OSP website and must be received on or before May 1. Applicants must also be willing to interview with OSP board members, upon request.

  • Questions concerning the scholarship or application process may be directed to OSP Executive Director, Jeff Markley via email at: execdir@ohiostream.org.  OSP is delighted to offer this scholarship opportunity and looks forward to helping a passionate student realize his or her educational aspirations.
